Tamed Walkers And Samurai Swords
In yesterday's episode of the Walking Dead, rick revealed to the group what Jenner, the CDC scientist, had told him (this confirms our third hypothesis.) and that he killed Shane. It will be interesting to see where to story heads now. Obviously the group is in shock after being overrun by walkers. One wonders if Rick chose the right moment to tell them he now knew they're all infected. The shock of the previous night's events combined with the sense of betrayal some of them feel because Rick kept them out of the loop and they are now forced to accept that they too are just walker-in-the-making causes many of them to blame Rick. It's a natural human response to seek someone to blame when faced with bad news. It seems like the women in the group are most intent on breaking up the group, while the men seem to be most coolheaded. Glen has found his place again. Hershel still has confidence in Rick and tells his daughter 'No' when they want to break off and flee. Darryl put 2 and 2 together and I doubt he questions Rick's decision. T-Dog's face expressed a type of resentment but at the same time he quietly accepted the will of the new alpha dog. The most unexpected reaction however was Lori's. In previous episodes she practically pushed Rick to kill Shane. Now, she's all shocked and disgusted. I guess Andrea was right. Lori likes to pretend she's the queen bee, but she rarely understands and accepts the consequences of her actions.
In an unexpected turn of events, a new character was introduced. Andrea was saved by a samurai sword wielding hooded figure. As if that wasn't mysterious enough, she was also accompanied by two seemingly tame walkers that had their arms chopped off. In the next season she will be revealed to be Michonne.
Looking back as Season 2, I must say this last episode was without a doubt the best one. The first half of Season 2 was plagued with a couple extremely boring episodes. People were simply sitting around on the farm while nothing happened. Yes, we saw some much needed character development going on, but as this last episode clearly proved: It is possible to make an episode that is filled with both character development, personal drama and the zombie action people expect from a zombie series.
